Isak names what he wants to do better for Liverpool than he did at Newcastle
da jogodeouro: Liverpool managed to conclude their biggest transfer saga of the summer on deadline day as they secured the signing of Alexander Isak from Premier League rivals Newcastle United. The Swedish striker moved for a British-record transfer fee of £125 million, which also makes him the fourth most expensive player in the history of football.
da dobrowin: Isak’s move began to look certain when he avoided attending the PFA awards and posted on social media about his desire to move clubs.
The sticking point in the deal had been Newcastle’s unwillingness to let Isak go before they had secured the necessary replacement players. In the final week of the transfer window, the Magpies brought in alternatives with the signings of Brentford’s Yoane Wissa and Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade.
Isak is already getting settled at Anfield, and in his first interview as a new Liverpool player, he discussed his feelings about the transfer and how he plans on improving.
Isak reveals how he will improve at Anfield
Speaking to the Liverpool media team, Isak revealed why he had been pushing so hard for the move: “It’s a mixture of what the club is building, but what they’re building on top of what the club already is. The history of the club. Me getting the chance to be a part of this, I want to create history. I want to win trophies.
“That’s ultimately the biggest motivation for me, and I feel like this is the perfect place for me to grow even further and to take my game to the next level and help the team as well.”
While he was prolific during his time at Newcastle, and he helped his side to their first trophy in 70 years, Isak doesn’t seem satisfied and reveals what he wants to do even better for the English champions, improving the rest of his game away from his duties as a pure goalscorer.
How Isak can reach the next level
It’ll be a difficult task improving on his already exceptional standard, but some players have proven that an even better return in the Premier League is possible.

Joining the league six months before Isak, Haaland has shown two things: getting more goal involvement is certainly possible, but maintaining that high standard is incredibly difficult.
One thing that might help Isak boost his numbers is Liverpool’s chance creation. Last season, Newcastle managed to create 395 chances in the league, whereas Arne Slot’s side created 502. With more opportunities to receive the ball in attacking positions, Isak will almost certainly score more goals.
While Liverpool have had a lot of changes in attack, they don’t seem to be creating any fewer chances this season, as they are currently sat at the top of the league, having won all of their games and having scored eight goals already.
Winning more trophies may actually be the easier of the two targets that Isak has, as in recent years Liverpool have won every major trophy available to them. Following up their title win with the biggest gross summer spend of a Premier League side ever puts them in a prime position to go out and win again this season.
